Update 2021

Update 2021

Lockdown 3.0

So we are well into lockdown 3, it’s wearing a bit thin and it’s definitely worse in a freezing January. Lockdown with lovely spring days and summer to look forward too was child’s play compared to the current situation.

We are still printing but the print shop has had to lock its doors to the public again. Printing for business carries on regardless and the construction industries seem to be bucking the trend and seem to be booming. As for all my friends in the restaurant and pub trade, what can I say……battle on, it has to end at some point.

We have not stood still, with various upgrades and new machines.  A new HP printer arrived in the summer and is perfect for volume plan printing  and scanning, a new OKI printer came in and is a fantastic addition and we have a new Keencut machine arriving any day now, this is going to make a big difference to our signage offerings, and finally, all our electrics were upgraded just after Christmas, thanks to Dennis King Electrical

So that’s the update, now hears the updated quote:

“It’s crap….. but it will get better.” – Zig a Zig Ahhhhhhhhhhlockdown print

Difficult times, businesses having to shut up shop, people self-isolating and then lockdown. What a month.

Some of the things we have been busy with, NHS signage, Shop window “now serving take away food” posters, printing large format patterns. Ive not printed a sewing pattern for years, but all of a sudden there’s an urgent need for NHS medical scrubs.

A local group of York sewing machinists/seamstresses got together and decided to make the much-needed scrubs, and York Print Company was more than happy to print the patterns to help out. The group had donations to cover this, but all we asked was a token to cover costs. A great effort that just goes to show the true British spirit.

So, no end in sight as yet, but we will carry on regardless and let’s hope we can stay safe, beat the virus and get back to business as soon as possible, and remember:

“Difficult roads often lead to beautiful destinations. The best is yet to come.” – Zig Ziglar
